From day one in, the goal of MHS Mobile Dental was to provide a dedicated school-based oral healthcare program that provides access to quality preventative dental care for the children of our state who may otherwise not have access to dental care on a regular basis.
Many Mississippi communities in rural areas and inner cities are under-served in several health care areas, especially oral healthcare. Because of this obvious need, MHS Mobile Dental (Approved by the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners since 2010) offers schools and other organizations quality on-site access to preventative dental care for anyone who may need this service. MHS Mobile Dental is the longest running full time Mississippi-based mobile dental provider approved by the MSBDE and operating in Mississippi. As we know, EXPERIENCE MATTERS when providing on-site oral healthcare to children.
As a matter of fact, MHS has provided over 155,000 on-site dental encounters to Mississippi children on-site in Mississippi schools since 2010 and in that time has given back over $12.7 million in free dental care services to uninsured.
A full range of preventative dental services will be offered and provided by a board certified dentist and a dental staff consisting of professional x-ray technicians and dental assistants. There are many statistics & studies that you can see throughout our website which highlight the multitude of reason why we developed this program.

- (5) Implement state-wide school-based dental programs to improve knowledge and awareness about good oral health through classroom education, and provide preventative services for school-aged children.
- (7) Develop partnerships with state, public, and PRIVATE entities to continue to promote oral health as part of general health.

This FACT SHEET shows some of the glaring disparities in oral health care. It also states, "Because schools are an ideal place to reach children, they can play a pivotal role in impacting health. School-based dental sealant programs are an evidence-based public health best practice approach for preventing tooth decay among children, especially those at highest risk. iii,iv School-based sealant programs have been associated with reducing the incidence of tooth decay by 40 - 60 percent."
